Stange problem happened today, left work got into the truck. Was talking to the wife I phone and start have audio cut out. I taught it was the APIM (again), but it was not. The problem ended up being the AMP going in to protect. Wondering if anyone is putting cooling fans on the amps? It was 97 today and the amp was hot to the touch.

i haven't had a need to install cooling fans in many, many years with the advances in amp technology. installing a couple fans is dead easy though. all you need are a pair (or quad) of 12v computer fans, one in each direction. you can tap into your existing power and ground for the connections.
i've never used these, just found them on amazon, but $10 for 3 120mm fans is pretty cheap. for $3 you can get them with color leds, but since no one is ever going to see them....

It looks like the LC6.1200 has air inlets on its lower side edges... make sure those are not blocked.
When I had amplifiers in an amp rack (limited space/air), I used a couple of these little blower fans to blow air across them. Those aren't the exact ones... just look for the air flow (CFM) you want and the noise level (db). The nice thing about them is they are super quiet, small and have better mounting options than PC fans. They suck in air from the top/bottom and blow it out the side. You could blow the air right in the slot on the LC6.1200.
You can also place little spacers under the amplifier at the screw holes, before you screw it down, so that there is room under for air to circulate under it.

I would. All three of my amps (AudioControl LC 6.1200, 4.800, 1.1500) have never gone into protect mode and I live in Austin Texas. I'll also point out that each of the amps has a fan built in. The cooling system in your amp may be bad. You should be able to hear the fans, especially when its gets hot.
I can hear the can running. I am going to email them tonight..

DH thanks again for steering towards Audiocontrol. This is the first time that I called an electronics company and a real person answer the phone and a tech with in 2 minutes, no phone trees (and a bonus, no "out of North America" call center for both people).
