Post your supercrew sound system.

I am looking at ideas for my system. I have a few things laying around but I want to see what everyone else has done/ or is doing. Post pics, specs, etc.

raif281 10-06-2011 12:35 PM

what are you looking at gettin? deep bass that travels an hits hard or something thatll give you just a little extra thump. also you looking on puttin in a new radio or do u already have one?

01fiddy 10-06-2011 02:03 PM

Right now I have a Pioneer TS-w304, xplod amp (760 max, 300+/- rms, and kenwood deck from my ranger. Just looking for ideas with moderate setups. Not competition but still has some good bang. I might throw something together with what I have now but idk yet. Just want to see how everyone is mounting their subs. I have a few ideas but I wanna know what works best before I make a box. I have built a few systems for my old ext. cab ranger but the 150 is going to be harder. How do you think the stuff I have would sound? I have used the sub and deck but not the amp, would the amp be WAY overkill? Sorry for the long post....

raif281 10-07-2011 08:58 AM

I agree the f150 will be way harder. see i just bought a '03 f150 screw FX4. an from my previous vehicle I have 2 12" aluminized kicker subs in a kicker box sitting on the seat behind me (for now), hooked up to a 400 watt kicker amp. I get compliments from my friends an complaints from my neighbors all the time lol. they sound very good with nice deep bass an they have the roof vibrating when I turn it up, which I need to figure something out about lol. I want to look into getting a box that fits under my back seat for the 12's which I know I would probably have to custom make the box an also raise my back seat. but I think what you have would be good for what your looking for. no the amp is not way overkill? remember you can always turn down the amp to push less lower so it wont blow your sub. It's alright you get use to having long posts on here after awhile.

01fiddy 10-07-2011 10:13 AM

Wait turn it down??? lol I am thinking about making a center console box, but if I did that I would do 2 12's.

raif281 10-07-2011 10:41 AM

yea, that is if your worried about blowing your sub. if not then leave it where it's at. I would like to do that to but I dont have the time and I'm always on the go with my truck

01fiddy 10-07-2011 02:42 PM

Yea I am super busy 7 days a week with school, work, and working on our race cars. Luckily the season is almost over. If I end up building the console box I can send you the measurements...

im looking too. Just a little extra THUMP.

4dracin 10-07-2011 10:10 PM

No it's actually a 12. Sounds pretty good. The box is to small right now, working on the new one for more air space.

raif281 10-08-2011 08:21 AM

yea those 12's need alot of air space. that's why I got my 2 just sittin on the back seat till I figured something out to do with them.

I would suggest using some MDF and making a mounting bracket for your midrang/bass that you've got in your door.

there are ways to still put boxes in there that are made to go around the seat stand. like this one I plan on putting in my truck for 2 12's. even though I'll have to raise my seat up about 2" to fit this big box.

http://caraudiofactory.com/20012003-....html?osCsid=7

01fiddy 10-13-2011 02:20 PM

Hmmmm, that seems pretty nice... for $100 I might just buy that. It would save me alot of time

raif281 10-13-2011 02:45 PM

I feel the same way, because boxes like that for 12's are hard to come by. they only have one for 10's an 8's. I'm gonna order it as soon as I get my check next week and figure out how I'm gonna raise my back seat.

harley21 10-13-2011 08:30 PM

i got kenwood double din indash and kenwood headrest tv's but the subs are JL audio and amps are JL audi...i don't think you could go wrong with JL's but they cost a little more than other brands but well worth it...i got an 07 supercrew harley f150...3 JL W3 8" subs...sound beautiful and i would go bigger but there was no room and i didn't want to drill holes and mod my seats...check out my garage and you'll c the subs

you connect the positive & negative wires from the amp to the crossover and then crossover to your tweeters.

06F150atvmudder 10-17-2011 03:54 PM

What's a crossover?

It's a device that splits the low and high frequencies.. the highs will go to your tweeters and the lows to your subs or mids

There should be a blue or blue with a white stripe wire labeled "Remote" or "Antenna", both of which will be your amp remote turn-on.

Its just a SCAB but here is mine.

BigRed09 10-27-2011 10:27 AM

Also make sure you use the amp turn on not the power antennae or your amps will shut off when not using the radio.

06F150atvmudder 10-27-2011 10:57 AM

Well when I had It hooked up to the antenna it would never shut it off. It would continuously have power and run my battery down.

01fiddy 10-27-2011 02:18 PM

That is weird, I have never heard that happen. I have wired one to antenna and another one to a designated remote wire and it hasn't ever drained my battery. Are you sure all of your charging system is working? (battery, alternator, etc.)

06F150atvmudder 10-28-2011 11:46 PM

Battery and alternator is fine soon as as jumped it off and let it run it wouldst have problem starting. I've tried on two different radios and same scenario

are you sure your remote wire coming from the amp is not hooked up to your constant power (usually yellow) wire in the back of the radio instead of the remote wire which is usually blue or blue with a white stripe. thats the only thing I can't think of that would have your amp staying constantly on

jamesm03 10-29-2011 08:12 AM

on the new trucks that have the little message center near the top of the radio area, what happens when you put an aftermarket radio in?

06F150atvmudder 10-29-2011 02:48 PM

Yep it was on the blue one and now my radio wi.t get power to turn on I checked all the fuses that go to the radio and two were blown and then I lost a 5 amp fuse and am searching for another one maybe once I put it in it'll work.

For the price I don't think u can really beat them. The Memphis highs sound really good.

Memphis Blue 11-14-2011 10:12 PM

I know it's not an even comparison, but my buddy has two Memphis mclass subs. The jls sound so much cleaner. They keep up with the Memphis in volume too. We have different amps/ boxes so can't really give a technical opinion, but I would go Jl unless the Memphis are much cheaper.

2 IDv3 10" subs in down fire box
1000.1 JL audio amp
Alpine 2 channel amp that puts out 2x110w rms
Have an amp under each front seat.

Had this same set up in a silverado except with JL audio 12w3v3 subs in a custom sealed box(seat raised 3") and overall I'm extremely pleased with the ID subs. Not near as much output of course but very accurate and good sound sub.

Though if only my truck would fit the LMS Ultra 5400 that I have in my house... ahhh.

on the supercrew the seats fold down. but all you should have to do is unbolt the front an rear seat brackets at least that's how it is on the supercrew.

There's plenty of room back there width wise but you don't have much for height, few inches at best if you don't want to block from your seats folding up.

I have mine in the gargo bin thing behind my seat that comes with our supercrews and it seems to work, doesn't cut out or anything

01fiddy 01-26-2012 10:34 PM

After the system in my ranger I want my amps nice and open. The amp in my ranger was pretty closed off and it had nothing but problems with overheating. With a good amp that is fan cooled it would probably be fine.

I was able to squeeze mine behind my back seat but it has an internal cooling fan. I am assuming that the seat would block any air flow unless the amp pulled the air in from the sides.

Keep in mind, after mounting wood to screw the amp into there is very limited room behind the rear seat.

powerranger262 01-27-2012 12:17 PM

^That's what I was thinking. I'll just have to do some measuring some day to see if there is enough airflow.

That looks nice and custom. Any reason you didn't down fire the subs?

Here's my new Pioneer AVH-P 4300DVD headunit:

I'm still rocking my Lariat speakers. I have a JL Stealthbox with a 10" w2 under the rear seat with a rockford fosgate 500 amp. The new headunit sure woke up the sound, it's simply amazing! Also: You gotta love steering wheel controls! :)

After 2.5 years, decided to put my kicker amp into the truck. Was very easy to do. Hardest part was finding the right fuse to tap into for the remote turn on. After trying several different ones I wound up going with slot 25 which is the interior demand lamps. These supposedly go on when the FOB key is activated. So I double checked with a Ford mechanic and they said it was switchable. I tried Slot 38 which is the subwoofer location but I didn't have a sub so of course it didn't work. Anyone else have any other suggested fuse locations? BTW, I used the add-a-fuse to tap into the box and it works well.

Update: Just switched location to Slot 32 which is the Trailer Brake controller (don't have this option). I feel more comfortable with this. Really don't want a dead stick tomorrow morning.

Here are some random pictures of my install on a 2012 screw without sony/nav. Used the PAC harness without issue/ 500-1 Rockford amp, 12 shallow mount sub, Atrend box. The install was very easy I ran the Power and remote wires on the passenger side and RCA cable on the driver side. I used 1/4 inch plywood to mount the amp(anything more and the seat would not have locked into the up position), even then I had to file away some metal on the back of my seat. I have about 400.00 dollars into the system and it sounds awesome!

crackin5 or anyone. could you measure how far out your amp +wood sticks out off the back wall please? and does it touch the back seat or do you still have a little bit of space between the seat and the amp?

crackin5 02-14-2012 07:10 AM

You've got a little over 31/2 inchs if you want your seat to lock up, more if your amp is shorter. Do you see those metal prong looking things, that stick out, I believe there are 4 in my picture? thats what I had to file down. They left a mark on my Amp where they were hitting it. A shorter amp could fit between those giving you more room.
