Default Back seat vs Front seat

Just finished installing the Kicker HS8 sub behind thr single seat in my 13 screw XLT with the lame 4.2" screen. This thing rocks when i sit in the back seat of the truck, when i move to the front a LOT of the low end is lost. I have tried settings posted here as well as "extreme" settings. I can get it to sound decent in the front, but then i sit in the back and its way too much bass. I cant figure out why the truck seems to "swallow" up a lot of the subs output just moving to the front seat. Obvioulsy having it behind the rear seat i expect more bass when sitting in the rear seat, but its so extreme! Anyone have similar issues? Has anyone installed under the seat where the factory sub would be? Curious if it would help even things out.

from the install instructions:

(note* if you get polarity backwards, you will not have any
output. You can test this by balancing to the left or right. If bass response improves
as you go to one side or the other and decreases as you go back to center, reverse
either the white and white with black stripe or reverse the gray and gray with black
wires. Do not reverse both!)

If you read the reviews on this site, that's the general consensus. There isn't anything else you can do to boost the output. That's all the kicker offers.

You can only get so much out of an 8" sub in a small enclosure. Mounting it under the seat, front or back, should help balancing the bass.

Sitting closer to a sub in any vehicle will result in more bass. Sitting further away will result in the opposite. I'm not exactly sure what you guys are trying to accomplish here.

I’m just trying to figure out why Ford months their subs behind the rear seats, if it’s going to sound as ****ty as the hideaway does behind mine. Is it advantageous to put it under the driver seat? If so, why doesn’t Ford?

If I lean forward and have my face 3” from the steering wheel, or sit in the back, it sounds great. If it sit normally, it sounds weak af.

1 (800) 392-3673 is Ford corporate's phone number. You can call them and ask because not a single person here will be able to answer that question. I'd assume it would have to do with cost but I'm not a Ford engineer.
