Forgive me for hijacking this...but I too hate my audio on my 16' XLT super crew. Trying to find my best bet. Saw the concert and it looks awesome, except it takes a lot of space...

Was looking at the 10" Rockford powered sub setup...that might be good if it fits...I'm a pilot and my truck is 900 miles from me right now.

Question is, does anyone know if the trucks are presided for the Sony system already? Can I tape into the wires if so that run behind the seats?

I am returning It asap and pissed that it wasn't easy to install at all.

Its easier to run the power cable to the back and add a powered Sub.

Hi. I just purchased this JBL Concert edition and starting to install.
How did you attach the power and ground from the power harness to the 2 power and ground connections on the JBL OEM Interface harness? I have poor electrical know how and thought this was really all plug and play. Thanks!

newbie here for the sole purpose of this thread and hoping to get some info/help.

any help greatly appreciated.

I am considering the JBL vss for a 2015 XL Crew cab with the XL power equipment group. No sony or Nav.. just radio/cd/aux input radio.

Ccumato, you originally said the sound was "ok" and also said that you were going to return it but later said the system was "pretty awesome"... was this because you able to fix/adjust after the original installation and if so, what did you do to fix it and what model year?

2016BoostedGreyGoose, stupid question... I'm not sure what you meant when you mentioned the " 2015+" equalization.. Are you including the 2015 model year or are you saying "starting with the 2016 model year", for example... I ask because Ccumato mentioned that the system is fine on a 2015 with factory equalization...

Even after all that, assuming the JBL is fine with factory equalization on a 2015, is there any point in adjusting the factory equalization or is it better to leave it alone??

Fmango, please update on the sound quality and the model year and if changed the factory equalization.

Thank all in advance for any responses.

Lastly, assuming I get responses that the system is good to get, I will provide my thoughts when it is eventually installed.

Thanks again..

Mark

Ccpbma. I have a 2016 Lariat. Non Sony audio with GPS. I did not change the factory EQ as I'm still trying to figure out how. The JBL I think is worth it for the price I paid. Installation was pretty straightforward but I needed help in clarifying where to splice the power harness. The improvement I notice is just fine, not great that others are saying. Most of it is with the improved bass.

What door speakers and sub did you end up going with? Did you also replace the pillar tweeters? I am looking to improve the sound in my non-Sony XLT and am pretty comfortable with stereo wiring as I have installed many a speaker/head unit over the years.

I used Kicker 2 ways and did not replace the pillar tweeter. I did leave it hooked up

I went with Polk MM6501 front door, Polk db571 rear, and replaced pillar tweeter with a JBL GTO tweeters on my Sony system. My sub is one I had on the shelf from a previous truck. Boss Bass 1400. It fits behind the rear seat. Far from top of the line but it sounds good to my old ears. I used a dremel to enlarge the pillar tweeter hole a little.
