No, they don't need much more airspace than that sealed.

Default Box Design

Hi, I was wondering if you would make me a sub box design for a 12 inch type r (new 600 rms one)(6 3/8 top mount depth). I got a 2006 reg cab f150 and am looking to put the sub behind the seats, inbetween the captains chairs but behind the middle pop up seat. I will pm you a ROUGH sketch of what i had in mind tomorrow and maybe you can help me improve it? inbetween the two captains chairs is 15 inches. from the back of the pop up seat to the back of the truck wall is about 12 inches. 1.0 cubic feet is minimum port volume and 2.0 is max port volume(says alpine) I want to try to keep it around 23 inches tall. There is a seatbelt housing behind the driver/middle seat that might be in the way of the box that i might have to work around. Let me know if you need pictures to understand it better.

I made a sketch of what i really want it to look like and will PM it to you tomorrow.

this is somewhat what i want it to look like but not really. I got a newer truck and it has more space than this behind the seat(a good foot atleast) I still want to be able to use the middle pop up also. I also want to have a port on the top of the box. I will send pictures of how much room i have and what it looks like in my truck as soon as i can get them up

Thanks!

Hey from Montreal Canada...!!!! got a 07 f150 Screw, and I want my sub box between the 2 front seats..... I will remove the console.. I have a 12 inch digital designs 3512 sub,,,, powered by a 1500watt rms amp... I am a car audio nut.. I had a fusion(trunk car) and with this sub and the box I had I hit 144.3 db on the windshield... that box was tuned at 44hz though with a slot port and was VERY musical but went low also......

Now, with this box that I would like for you to design, I would want too go a bit lower like no lower than about 39hz, and I would want the sub either firing down or to the rear, with the port firing to the rear... you can go 6 more inches longer than the console in the front and about 7 in the rear and you can go about 4 inches higher on the top, and about 1/2 inch on each side...(i hope you know what I mean) I have the stock console with the cup holders in front and back with just a 12v acc in the rear of it... if you can design me the cutout sheet with 3/4in sides and a 1.5 inch baffle with some good braising I would be forever in your debt... if you need actual external dimensions I can give them to you and also can send you a few pics of the interior...
