Default FIX86 getting clipped signal at 3/4 volume

So I just got back my rig after the install of my sub. Installer says, and I verified, the FIX shows clipping with the 8" Sync 3 volume at 20, max volume is 30 so I assume that's 3/4 max. LOL I have a ForScan adaptor on the way so I can set the output to low level line out so see if that will fix the Fix. My plan is to change the following:

FORSCan codes:
ACM
727-01-01 xx5A xxxx xxxx This one makes the factory outputs a low level for an aftermarket amp.
727-01-02 00xx This one flattens the factroy EQ.

After changing ACM I will recalibrate. Any ideas or words of advice?

That seems unnecessary. I installed a Fix86 with a Kenwood XR900-5 powering Alpine 601C's, 610's and a SWT-10S2 sub and I was able to calibrate the factory head-unit right out of the gate. Before you performed the calibration process did you;

1. Set all levels flat on the head-unit
2. Turn up the volume to 22 or 23 (approx 75% of max volume)
3. Play the calibration CD test signal with in the time allowed once the calibration button was pressed on the Fix86?

Have you downloaded the TUN 2.0 software? There is a way to modify the output voltage which might help. It defaults to 1.0 Volts. Try lowering it to 710mV and re-calibrate.

1. Levels were set at "0"
2. FIX was showing clipped signal above 18
3. Followed calibration steps and does fine, just have to do it less than 3/4 volume.

I think you misread my post, the FIX is showing clipping, not the amp. I have it running ok, just wasn't able to calibrate at 3/4 volume.

Ah, ok. Could just be higher voltage coming out of the headunit.

Well after some brief moments of profuse sweating I configured the ACM with the following.

ACM
727-01-01 xx5A xxxx xxxx This one makes the factory outputs a low level for an aftermarket amp.
727-01-02 00xx This one flattens the factroy EQ.

Turned off the key, removed key, walked away long enough for "I hope" the modules to shut down. Followed JL Audio's links on calibration of the FIX-86 and still have clipping above volume setting 15. I can say the factory EQ settings are gone and I now have a nice flat signal coming into the FIX, however the FIX makes it even better going out to the Amp. Not sure if the "low level" setting is not working or what but I am done with this till I buy a TWK-88 and then I can resume pulling out what hair I have left.

Pic of laptop running TUN 2.0 on FIX-86, red line is signal coming into the FIX, orange is output to amp. Soooo, FIX may not be needed when using ForScan to flatten the EQ out of head unit. HOWEVER, I did use the EQ setting of the FIX with the TUN software to balance the sound a tad bit. Once I get a TWK-88 in the mix I should have the sound I'm looking for, or I'll get different speakers. Lord the madness never stops.

You don’t need to change the output to low level for the fix86. The fix86, in its most basic form, is a high to low level converter. Revert to your factory setting in forscan. This is the only change you need to make when using the fix86: 727-01-02 00xx - Disables Factory EQ Processing
