SPDIF Coaxial Input
So how does this work? I was envisioning that you would intercept the signal from the head unit and use this as the inputs to an amp, but have never seen a stock head unit with RCA inputs.

I think he was referring to the inputs, not outputs.
According to product page

there are 4 sets of RCA outputs on the unit. The actual unit should be doing the hi/lo conversion, not a harness.
