I know that title sounds ridiculous but... hear me out.
I have never built a subwoofer box before and I'd like something super stealth that looks factory (but is capable of much deeper/louder bass). Plus I have a SuperCab, so i don't have a lot of room beneath the short rear seats to build a standard shaped box that I *might* be capable of. I also really prefer the sound quality/accuracy of a sealed box over a ported, and read lots of reviews on good shallow mount subwoofers.
According to Skar, the maximum sub mounting depth is 4.75" and the Kicker needs 4.125" so that should be fine. The cutout for the Kicker needs to be an 11.125" square... that's where it might be tight. The Skar box hole is 7.55" which means I would need an additional 1.79" from the diameter of the hole. If you click on the Skar link above (or look at the pic attached below), it sure does look like there would be room on the sides, and if I offset the square hole slightly towards the terminal end of the box, there is plenty of room there.
Next hurdle (and the main reason why I'm starting this post...), I need to convert the box from ported to sealed, and (maybe?) reduce the total volume of the box. I'm assuming I can just cut a piece of MDF and bolt/glue it over the port hole on the outside to seal up the hole and not change inside volume.
As for volume, the stock Skar box is 0.90 ft3. The Kicker sub would prefer a sealed volume of 0.55-1.25 ft3. I *shouldn't* have to do anything with the volume since 0.9ft3 is within the sub specs, but I really don't know what difference it makes.
Is there a benefit from being on the smaller or larger end of the box volume range? What does it do to the sound? And if I wanted to reduce the internal box volume, would it work to just find out what size piece of MDF square equals the amount of volume I want to reduce the internal box to, and just screw/glue it to the inside of the box somewhere where it doesn't interfere with the sub?
Thanks for any help!

I have this cheap box with dual shallow RF 10s and it has plenty of cowbell for my SCAB. Been using it for years no problems. My current subs wired at 4ohms are only getting about 250-300 watts from the RF Prime amp. Just an idea.
Thanks! The ASC ones got some terrible reviews, but definitely a better option than modifying the Skar. I used google image AI and it told me that distance between the two risers is about 11.75 and I need 12.5 for the Kicker I want to use, so no go there..
