Post Car audio issue

Hello everyone.
I am sure that there are plenty of threads on this. But I recently bought subs and all that. A friend of mine who installed everything told me I needed a two-channel line output converter since I do not have an after-market radio. everything is hooked up correctly, the LOC's gains are turned up all the way as well as my amp being somewhat tuned (he had to turn the gain and another all the way up to get some bass). my head unit is tuned accordingly as well. i tested my subs when i bought them in another car to ensure they worked in which they hit a lot harder that way (car has aftermarket head unit). We are thinking MAYBE its because we wired it directly to the small speaker on the dash instead of a door speaker.

PS its a 2018 f150 xlt sport

If anyone could point me in the right direction, that would be amazing. I do not want to upgrade my head unit unless I absolutely have to do so.

So the small center speaker is not giving you a full signal. Use a rear speaker for input. It will be full signal.

Don't use rear, they have bass roll off way more compared to front, that has been independently measured and is true.

Tap the front left and front right speaker wires for best results. The center, as far as I know, is high passed above the bass frequencies since it is a small speaker so basically no bass out of it, worst choice to tap.

Also what amp are you using? If it accepts high level, ditch the loc as it isn't needed.

Only use front channels for signal end of story.

will try this for sure. I messed with my amp today and it made a slight difference. but there is a really annoying thump noise behind what little I have. not necessarily a clipping noise. can't really explain it though.

Skar Audio RP-1500.1D Monoblock Amplifier is what im using.

As far as I am aware, won't I need the LOC because I have the stock head unit and they don't have the RCA's?

with that amp, you will need the loc. most allow speaker wire to rca connectors for high level use, but skar amps do not allow this

gotcha. i know this will be needed UNLESS i upgrade my head unit. this would be a last resort though. i just have a fear that if i do that, something with my camera or anything will turn out to be a little jacked up

Not sure if you were aware but I build plug and play harnesses for this type of thing. Send me a PM if interested. The Skar amp will need a LOC. You can use a cheap one for this purpose so it won't break the bank.

If you get the correct wiring harness nothing will be jacked up.
