Browse USB while driving?
Hi all, title pretty much says it all. I tried searching but probably couldn't find the right terms or combination of words so am posting this question. Is there a way, using FORScan to allow one to browse the contents of their USB drive and change album while driving? My question is related to the 4" screen SYNC 3 on my 2018 XL.
I'm still VERY happy with my speaker upgrades and the stereo now provides me music pretty much how I want, so I have no desire to upgrade; except for Ford's stupid safety feature that prevents browsing the USB drive and changing albums while the truck is in motion. My Galaxy S10+ connects just fine through Bluetooth and Android Auto, but I find it much easier to browse and select my music on my USB from the dashboard controls, instead of my phone which involves switching between Android Auto and Play Music apps. Using my phone takes much longer and takes my attention off the road more.
I'm hoping there's a way to change settings and if so I'll buy a FORScan, but I'm not entirely sure just yet of what I'm reading on the spreadsheet and word document guide provided here for FORScan use.

Not sure I understand the problem, but I have had not had an issue scanning the contents on my USB thumb drive (which is plugged into one of the front USB ports) while driving. I have my music set-up in folders - ie folder for Kansas with .mp3 files in the folder. It finds it and let's me navigate thru the songs and select what I want while moving from the dash display. What year is your truck? Mine is a 2018 with 7 speaker non-sony.
Mine is a 2018 XL with the basic 4" screen SYNC 3 system. If I'm driving, anytime I click on the navigation buttons to browse the menus to change selection brings up a popup message stating essentially (not exact wording) "for safety reasons, this function is disabled while this vehicle is in motion".

Thanks jdunk54nl; I read your reply from last night and plan to try that. Is there any recommendation to the best FORScan scanner for the money to use - for Android and Bluetooth? I see several on Amazon, but not sure if there's one recommended here as being more reliable than the others.

Note: You need a computer running windows (can be a mac running windows in virtual or dual boot) to make changes. You CAN NOT make changes via phone as of this time.

Thanks for the help and sounds like I got one programmed/setup not to allow this; maybe because what I bought was a used dealer rental. Unfortunately, a scanner won't help here since I don't have a laptop to get near the truck, so FORScan won't help at the moment. I'll see if my local dealer might be able to fix it. Thanks all.
I can confirm that setting the country code to 5753 in the APIM module using FORscan definitely turns on the full menuing functionality of the 4.3" headunit. Just did it on mine yesterday.
