Cool project!
Per the screw and glue comments... I used course thread drywall screws without any problem. Pre-drill the holes. With glue, I recommend not using it. Glue hardens and has the potential to vibrate. Use silicon instead. It'll hold joints together (with screws) just fine, and it'll stay flexible in so that, it won't ever vibrate.
My two cents... Probably not worth even that.

Wood glue soaks into the wood creating a stronger bond than the wood itself. This is done by MANY shops who build custom competition boxes constantly. Its cost effective and strong.

You'll see the poly fill undisturbed since I first put it in 7 years ago. It stayed in place.

To fill or not fill, that is the question.. LOL.
Now that I don't have anything around to build, drill, cut or fabricate, I noticed that I had plenty of bolts, screws and washers that are needed for this build when my parts come back.. Wow.. lol! That's about $60 dollars worth of misc bolts and stuff.. Those (4) chrome ones were roughly $3.49 each at Ace Hardware..

Just got a call from the powder coater.. my metal parts are ready to be picked up but they close in about an hour. I will probably have to pick them up first thing in the morning. Also, not pictured in the aluminum parts that I posted, were two 3" x 6" x 36" 1/8th inch right angled aluminum. I had those powder coated as well. It was a last minute decision to use those as trim pieces to prevent me or the front seat passenger from "rubbing" dirty, sweaty, etc legs up against my newly upholstered console. This idea totally hit me when I was driving from my home owners associate / community pool. After leaving, my legs were covered in sweat, chlorine and sunblock lotion.. that would have totally gotten all over the new center console.
