Many of the aftermarket head units have an audio input. I have used a Pioneer AVH-P4200 and currently have a Clarion VX401. Both have a rear rca input for audio/video. Also if you connect your radio mute wire on the aftermarket radio harness to the brown wire on the PAC FRD harness it will mute the aftermarket radio. If you don't connect it then the radio will turn off and turn back on when you are done with your bluetooth.

Which is pointless if you stream blue tooth audio like i do, but then again if you spend enough money you can just use the blue tooth from the head unit itself, just depends on the cash you're willing to spend.

Normally if you use a harness to retain the SYNC functions you plan on using the SYNC functions. The Clarion I have now has built in blue tooth. The Pioneer I had didn't. I still use the SYNC blue tooth for my phone because it is easier and my steering wheel controls are retained. I just have the blue tooth on the Clarion turned off.
But the point of my first response was that you do not need to use the small screen that PAC provides if you have an audio input on your aftermarket receiver. Which most do.
