2018 XLT Screw audio build thread

Thanks Jdunk I’ve read that thread several times already. Only part that differs is this focal component setup has a crossover box for doors and tweeters so I see no way how to avoid running new wire for tweeters. But I’m a pure novice and was making sure I’m totally missing something.
Have your crossovers mounted near amp if you want to use only one amp output for left side and one for right side for both tweeter and mid.
Run amp out to crossover in, and then crossover out run new wire to tweeters and run wire to tie into the existing wire for the door speakers under the center console.
You could also mount the crossovers under the center console but those would be hard to access and not worth it in my opinion.
Or, if you are bi-amping the speakers, mid gets its own amp channel and tweeter gets its own channel, run speaker wire off of one channel on amp to wires under center console and tie in the mid. Then run another set off the amp on a different channel and place the crossover in line with only the tweeter. This would just allow the mid to naturally roll off which is fine.

Thanks Jdunk you confirmed what I was thinking I had to do. I just wanted to keep it as simple as possible and not have to cut and splice the factory wires that’s why I went with a dsr1 first. But after I get it all sorted and tuned if it’s still not to my liking I might just bypass the dsr1 tuning stuff and run a Dayton 408 off it. Dhmcfadin told me that would be a option if I wasn’t happy with the Rockford side of the dsr1.

65 microfarad cap is what Andy (owner of audio frog) suggests to not impact performance but protect tweeter.

not having much luck finding these......probably dumb.....

Make sure you use the correct CAP, Here is a link to a video on sizing it correctly. I did with mine and it works great. BTW the Dayton works great (as long as you look at the unit and not the direction for wiring!).

The 47uf that I linked should be 800hz for a 4ohm speaker. This should be fine for protection on every tweeter that is 4ohms.
Here is a calculator if you have a need to find the perfect cap...but you want it far enough away from your active crossover but still going to protect your tweeter by not being a whole lot lower than the resonant frequency (Fs)
