Any ideas on how to add a tailgate open warning ight? I have seen guys hack into one of the rear door open switches. I cannot see my tailgate becaurs of my cover and racks.

I drove a couple times not knowing the tailgate was down due to having a bedcover, once losing a case with a grinder.

A "tailgate open" indicator light seems like a frivolous, but useful add that I would consider doing.

 

What year truck? If you have a tailgate mounted camera and just want to check if the gate is open (when sitting still) just slip it into reverse. You'll know real quick if it's open.

2017 F150 XLT. I have an after market radio and rear camera is attched to the plate holder. My current tailgate open device is the guy next to me blowing his horn. I have to mess with radio settings to turn on the camera while driving. I saw a youtube video where a cuy cut into the wire for the back door sensor and patched in a magnet alarm switch mounted tothe bed side and tailgate. when the tailgate is open the dash shows the back door as adjar.

 

Aftermarket radio wouldn't work with the factory camera I take it?

 

There was no factory camera with the truck.
