SoCal GreyMatter
Howdy Y'all -
New F150 purchased mid-pandemic. This is replacing my 2006 F250 V10 Long bed, Crew Cab, w/ 35" Nittos - truly a beast, but time for a new ride.
New truck is stock off the lot STX/FX4 5.0 crew cab in abyss grey - only aftermarket mod is addition of boxlink and spray in liner. There's a list of things I'd like to do tint, cap, level kit, tires, wheels, exhaust, CB/Scanner/Ham radios - but that'll all have to be budgeted and timed.
Impressed so far with the room of the F150 and power of the 5.0 with the 10speed engine. It'll get me where I need to go for rivers and hunts as is - just want the comfort and my own customization.
Only complaint is trans seems a bit jumpy at times - like the gears slip.
Literally stumbled on this site while looking for truck cap reviews.
Glad to be here and hope to participate as i do more updates.

Welcome from SoCal as well.
You might be feeling the 10-speed shifting two gears at a time. At light throttle I noticed mine does that...skipping gears. I love that the 10-speed has very closely spaced ratios, not allowing the engine revs to drop more than 500 RPM at a time for each gear. Although it will drop further if it skips a gear. This transmissions shifts a lot. It's a refreshing change from my previous GM 6-speed, which was a bit lazy to shift down. Also had too wide a gap in certain situations due to its tall gearing.

Wait until you decide to modify things that require you to adjust your "software". LOL! I used to sell those Ford F250 V10's in 2003. They were very simple back then.
These new trucks are supremely complicated! I just re-calibrated my speedometer to match the slightly larger wheel/tire combo on mine. Dealers can't do it. Tuners are NOT allowed to do it on California trucks. They won't even ship you the tuner. At least my '16 GMC Sierra I was able to buy a C.A.R.B. approved Diablo Sport Tuner and adjust things to my liking. Not on these late model trucks! I had to get comfortable with code changing using the only tool available to do it: Forscan. Love this software tool!
Oh and...don't lose your key fobs! Lose one of those and it's a cool $365 from a Ford dealership. Or $200 from an automotive locksmith and a used Ford Key/fob blank. Pretty soon they'll make you sign with blood and marry the truck to your social security! LOL!
