Default And now it begins...

Hello all!

I just signed up to the F150 Forum and this is my first post - woohoo!

I own a 1999 F250 Light Duty (7 Lug) 5.4L V-8 SuperCab 4x4.
The truck is currently stock but I would like to upgrade a few things for better towing ability so I will be looking for guidance and advice.

For starters, it's getting a new Ford Crated Long Block engine swap. Yes, sadly, after 235k miles, the engine developed a "knock" and it was diagnosed as needing a new engine.
I though it might be the timing chains slapping and I was planning to check for bad tensioners - but the official news came in that the engine was bad.

Yes, I could rebuild it or do a salvage engine swap but I plan on never selling this truck so I'm just gonna bite the bullet and go with the Ford factory crated solution.
At any rate, I will soon have 0 miles and a 3 year unlimited mile warranty from Ford.

The Plan:
I use my truck to pull a 31ft Travel Trailer while camping in the mountains (Smokies, N. Georgia, etc) so I would like to make a few upgrades to assist towing ability.
I've already had my tranny overheat once going over a mountain in North Georgia. (flashing OD light).

My F250 LD comes from the factory with: a 3:73 rear end, a 10.25 rear axel and the same tranny from the Super Duty (4R 100) with a small factory transmission cooler.

My upgrade plans for now:
- Larger Tranny Cooler
- Towing Tuner (preferably one with multiple settings)
- Adjustable Air-Bag Suspension

I'm open to suggestions regarding towing enhancements, power, etc......

Glad to be aboard!
Thanks in advance.

7 Lug
