Cool newbe

Hi everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I just purchased a 2004 F-150 Lariat 5.4 and I LOVE IT. I have two questions that I need answers to. 1)Our truck has the overhead DVD system in it and we can't figure out how to listen to the radio while the kids have the headphones on watching a movie is there somewhere I can download these instructions I have looked in my owners manual and can't find anything. 2) The silver cap on the gear shift in the center console is missing so I went to my local dealer to buy a new gear shift and when I asked them if they could put it on for me they told me that they could not do it without dropping my transmission. I find this alittle absurd. Please tell me that there is a simpler way to replace this. Thanks alot

I looked in Alldata no you do not have to drop the transmission to change the shifter.. I am assuming its a floor shifter. It all comes loose at the center console.

Welcome to the forum. Is the DVD system factory? Or is it aftermarket?

Welcome to the board!

You should be able to replace the shifter from inside the cab, as NGM states.
As for the DVD, I can't help ya there...sorry.

Welcome to the site!!!

I just got done installing a dvd system in my truck and from what I remember about the stock systems all the controls are in th factory radio. You have to have the dvd player in the AUX setting and for y'all to listen to the radio/cd player it has to be in the correct setting.

That's how it is in my 2007 SuperCrew and I doubt it's different in the 2004's. Let me know if that doesn't work because I know car audio/video like the back of my hand.
