I’m in a 7 day testing period of a F150. Everything is great except for rust on the undercarriage. I’m in the south. The vehicle came from the north so I’m fairly certain it’s from salt.
Is this something I should be concerned about or not? See pics.
During your 7 day period -swing by your favorite mechanics shop for a used vehicle inspection. You have more than enough time to make sure the truck you are buying is worth it.
As for the rust -I'm not sure I'm too concerned with it, however that is true if the vehicle is 5 years old, if it is 5 months old, I may think otherwise.
There has been a lot of talk lately about surface rust on the new vehicles, also people treating their rusty undercarriage and the results. https://www.f150forum.com/f129/rear-...-rusty-495845/
IMHO, not too concerned, visit a mechanic to look at the vehicle.
Thanks. I took it by a mechanic who basically said he wasn't too concerned either since it would now be in a climate where winters are mild. The only thing he mentioned was potentially having to replace the brake rotors due to some of the surface rust at some point in the future. Everything else about the truck is great so I'm not eager to part with it if the rust isn't going to be a big deal going forward.

Good to hear. what does the rest of it look like? post some pics.
