Default New owner, new problem

New 2021 F150 sits in the garage connected to a battery charger. After going a day without being driven, she would not start and the battery voltage was at 6.5 volts. I have an appointment at the dealer this afternoon if I can get it started. I signed up here to research this problem and it appears I am not the only one with this problem. Luckily I have a 2011 F250 that my son is buying so I do have transportation till he picks up.

Hopefully the dealership service department will install a newer battery and send you on your merry way without any future problems.

New truck doesn't mean the battery they pulled from the shelf was new. Very very unfortunate and is far too common these days but yes, seems to be happening often. Hope it isn't any parasitic draw issue.

Back from the dealer. Battery tested good. They think the problem may be my habit of leaving the key fob on the dash of the truck. I live in a secure setting and that has been my habit on several vehicles. I asked if that was in the owner's manual but he didn't answer. I guess time will tell if that was the etiology of the dead battery. In my experience most batteries don't survive being drained to 6 volts. I expect to be stranded at some point in the future!

I thought the vehicle would go to sleep regardless of proximity of FOB.

Does your Forpass app show any status updates that it has been sleeping or anything? Maybe tomorrow you'll be able to check if you remove the key today.
The battery charger may be preventing it from sleeping, but one would think being in a constant state of charge that the battery would not be weak.

In addition to keeping the FOB away from your truck, perhaps don't charge it over night either just to see if Fordpass can give you any feedback.

That can't be right- at least for my '20. I leave my fob in the truck almost constantly. In fact it was there when I was gone for 9 days and it didn't drain the battery at all.

I leave my key fob in my 2021 ignition everyday all day, no dead battery but I do get messages on the Fordpass app saying low voltage visit dealer.

Truck started this morning and this afternoon. My wife had a feriday (?) pouch where I placed both remotes over night. The truck will not respond to the remotes while they are in the pouch . Time will tell!

I find this interesting. You had the battery on the charger while sitting in the garage. In the morning it was only at 6.5 volts? How could it be tested good? To me that looks like it didn't take the charge or the charger wasn't hooked up correctly? Or did I misunderstand what you wrote?
