New Member, New Problems
Hey Guys, I've been watching the forum for a little bit now and thought I might as well join. Let me start out by saying that I am 14. I bought my 92 F150 Xlt reg Cab SB 5.0 last August when I was 13. I paid $2800 of my own hard-earned money to buy my first truck. I DID NOT use "Daddy's Money".
My grandpa says it looks like "white trash" rn but it is a work in progress. I currently have the heads off because when I replaced the coolant temp sensor to get all my gauges working, my intake manifold cracked where the sensor threads in. So I sourced a lower intake off eBay($300), Rebuilt the injectors, painted the upper intake black, and then when I finally unbolted the cracked intake manifold to replace it, 3 corner bolts snapped
. The heads are being resurfaced at a machine shop (nothing else) and the MAYBE painted. I painted my valve covers, and upper intake black, but I polished up my new lower intake to shiny aluminum, so if you have any paint suggestions for the heads or anything else, let me know (I love Pictures of your setup too
. I am deleting the AIR system and pump too, just to declutter. But anyways, when I input my vehicle info on my profile, there were only "S, Custom, and Base" trims. Mines an XLT. And it wont let me upload a profile pic, but I sized it to 200x200...Anyone know what that's about? Thanks in advance guys

Can't help with the questions about the forum but I do want to say welcome aboard! I'm impressed by what you are doing/done at your age. I too was like that then only I couldn't buy a truck haha. But I was very mechanical and always tinkering around. Now im in my 40's and can actually afford to do this stuff. Keep it up the good work and good on you for saving your cash!
Thanks 😊 I absolutely love engines. I got to where I am today by fixing\Tinkering with small engines on riding mowers which I sell when they are all fixed. May do my first small engine rebuild sometime in the near future... Its not mowing season anymore, so my truck sucked up all my money and now I'm broke lol.

I also did something similar in high school. I attended a vocational high school and was in a shop that did small engines. I would find free/cheap lawn tractors and fix them up. Sell them for a little extra cash. Well maybe you can plow some snow or split firewood to make up the difference lol
