Hey I just wanted to say hello to you all and I am glad to be a new member here! Looking forward to getting some tips and sharing some of my own with everyone.

1. I got a popping sound coming from my 2008 F150 5.4L when in reverse. Its been at the dealer three times and they keep saying they are putting special lube on the splines of the driveshaft?!?!?! I know that lubing the splines will keep you from getting a bump at stop but not for this clicking sound. The strange thing is that it will make three distinctive pops everytime. To me it sound like its coming from the transfer case. Any thoughts?

2. The four wheel drive wants to engage while driving and the switch is in 2HI. It will make this horrible grinding noise and i have to engage it into 4HI to make it go away. Any thoughts?

Welcome!

1. U joints maybe. I wouldn't let them cop out with the "special lube" anyhow.

2. Look for information on the IWE (integrated wheel end) Vacuum Solenoid on the forum. Basically connects and disconnects the front hubs/axles.

Thats what Ive been saying! That special lube is total BS! I will look into that integrated wheel end. The only reason I am having them check it out is because its under warranty. I just want it fixed so I dont have to buy the parts. LOL! Thanks for the info!

Normally they wait until you're out of warranty and in a tight spot before they break out the "special lube", haha.

Make sure you keep records of bringing it in for the different reasons in case something happens down the road once your out of warranty.
