Just signed up for the forum. Bought a 1997 F-150 XL 4x4 with a new 4.2L crate motor in it a week ago. Awesome truck. I just moved to Pittsburgh, PA originally from western Massachusetts.

I'm a recent college grad with a degree in mechanical engineering. I perform all the maintenence on my vehicles minus complete engine teardowns (don't have the equipment or know-how yet). I'm looking forward to contributing to as well as learning from this forum. Pics of my truck will come soon!

Welcome.
hey you wont learn how to do an engine tear down unless you do it.

i replaced a head gasket on my 91 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0l 4cyl and basically i just parked it in the garage one day after i blew it and my dad wanted me to wait for him but i just started on my own and it went pretty easy. i have torn an engine apart in my vehicle service class at school so i know a little and im going to school for auto tech. i will be doing an engine tear down later this spring to refresh my engine.
