New here
Hey I'm new here. Don't have a truck yet but I plan to soon. I'm 16 and just haven't found the right one yet. Not quite sure if I want to get an older body style like a 89' or a newer body style like a 98', decisions, decisions!
I'm leaning towards an older body style as this truck would be my first vehicle.

Welcome to the forum! Picking a 1st vehicle was a little tough, my dad and I got a 2003 ranger for me that I had been driving until this Monday. As for you, there are plenty of good trucks out there to choose from for a 1st vehicle. Keep an eye on craigslist and your local classifieds as you can sometimes come across a real deal on there.

I am kinda partial to the looks of the 92-96 F150's myself.
The 96 F150's were the first year for the OBD-II models.
The OBD-II makes it easier to read the computer for error codes,
should it be necessary.

'87-'96 are probably the easiest to work on, being that they are most simplistic. If you can find one with a straight 6 and a 5 speed, that's gonna be a rock solid truck as long as some maintenence was done, like any other car/truck. I've got a '91 I bought for $200 (deal of the century) and ran it for a year on $100 of parts. Since then I've put money into new front brakes, new tires, and soon new rear brakes. And just a couple days ago I got new spark plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor and she's still runnin' great!
300s are just about bulletproof if you keep oil in them, so I'd look for one of them IF you don't plan to do any engines mods. If you want to mod the engine with new heads or really anything more extensive than an intake or exhuast, get a V8
