Default New guy needs help

2013 F150 XLT ext cab 4x4 with 165k and rear end crapped out. Dealer is telling me over $6000. It drives just fine but rt side axle is only held in by the brake caliper. I'm searching for parts but 1. I don't know what axle I have 2. what years will fit 3. am I even posting this thread in the right spot for these answers and advise.

Mike, welcome to the forum. There should be a tag under one of the rear end cover bolts which will tell you which rear end you have. Try searching on www.car-part.com

I cant find the tag on the axle. how do i know what ring gear I have? I did find out 3.55 ratio but still not 98.59% sure what used axle to buy. any one help this poor old man? axle code is L9 ok ok..

There are alot of 09-14 trucks out there. Local junkyards, Copart or even eBay would be a good starting point. Shouldn’t be hard to find a drop in replacement with the same gearing. 3.55 is what’s important. That’s your gear ratio
