Default Lost Keys

My truck is a 2000 F150 XLT SC, 4.6 manual.

Somehow, all the keys and remotes were lost.

Before I book the locksmith to the tune of 350 bucks, I wanted to know if anyone has info on how I can get one made.

What have I tried so far?
Called Ford Dealer, and no joy. They said, they can only make one from VIN back ten years.

Found the original owner manual and there was a key ring with a bar code and a 4 digit number followed by an X. Could this be helpful?

I am bumming, but trying to remedy? So, I did a search, too, and no joy.

Please chime in if you have any ideas whatsoever,

jack

My kid lost keys to my mustang and had em replaced by dealership but car was within ten years old. $125 by dealership for two chipped keys. Really is $350 for a locksmith? That's a lot

Yup, not funny. And I didn't even lose them. I have been helping the local used car lot fix up my truck. At the end of everyday, I give the key back to the 21 year old girl. Then, tomorrow, I was to take delivery with the body work done. Well, yesterday, I am, I asked her for they keys so I could install my Cold Air Intake, and she says right away, "you never gave them back last night." I call her on it, and she says the same thing." The owner who is just a bit older says to me, "sounds like you got a problem." Bottomline: I am getting a good deal, so they will keep my deposit and sell it for much more later in the season. So, yes, I am stuck for 400 bills. Hoping for any solutions....

Blame your self for allowing access to the keys to your kid, don't blame the kid.

Didn't know they had a time limit for keeping key cut info. The only thing you can do is use the locksmith or change your lock set. Ask the dealer how much for that, might be cheaper than locksmith.

Thanks for your input, I checked with the dealer. And yes, a new ignition switch is much cheaper, but the security code receiver is way more. So, I guess the bottom line is to go to the locksmith, which I phoned. And Murphy is, of course, alive and well. He is away for a 5 day vacation. The closes city to me is 58 miles away...so looks like I'm chilling like a villain for now.

Never fails to amaze me how a 2 year old that's not even 3 feet tall and stubby little arms, manages to find a way to reach up on top of ANYTHING somehow. Esp when that thing has buttons, keys, phones, ect ect lol

You program the new key(s) to the original security system, you don't have to replace it. Only thing getting replaced would be the ignition tumbler and any other tumbler you may have, door, tailgate, spare tire lock etc.

Dealer should sell the tumblers as a kit.

Another thing you could try is a salvage yard, nab the locks and keys from a donor truck then a trip to the dealer for key programming and you're golden. If your close by my area I could program them for you a lot cheaper than the dealer.

This info was key.

To close the loop, I finally found a Europeon bright locksmith. He got two keys programmed, and I was rolling for 250. At least it is done.

Thanks to all for chiming in.
