I've been working on my truck since I bought it. Instead of taking it to a mechanic, I decided to do the work myself. At least the work that is feasible. Right now I have my power steering pump off and found that it's missing a bolt. I'm going to get another one possibly replace the other three while I'm at it.

But I found another something was missing on another part of the engine. I'm not sure what the part is called. The oil filter is connected directly to this part. I want to know what the part is called so that I can replace whatever is missing. It could be a bolt or a plug is what I'm guessing...

Sorry, I don't have any pics. I was hoping that someone would know what the oil filter is directly connected to. If you can tell me I might be able to figure out the rest.

 

the filter screws onto the adapter that is held to the block by 4 bolts and the adapter has a insert that the oil filter screws onto
