Default LED Upgrade

I'm reading conflicting information concerning upgrades to LED. My 15' has regular halogen / Incan bulbs. Some info I am reading says that the CANBUS system can be affected by LED's, That don't have the proper electronics. I would like to upgrade the taillight bulbs to LED, maybe the headlights also. Can anyone tell me if there is or isn't a issue with LED upgrades all around?

Oh man, this has a long answer. The short version is, yes it can be done. Personally I bought my truck with BLIS, so it had led tails, but that’s it. I am retrofitting the stock oem led 3rd brake light and oem led headlights. This is probably the most expensive (and pain in the tail) way to go about it, but I really like the OEM Special edition led look. This approach also requires making changes in the modules with Forscan.

There are several aftermarket led housings and tons of bulbs available out there. This would be a cheaper route, but arguably just as good if you aren’t partial to look of the factory stuff.

Do a search for “led headlights the forscan way” to see the thread I’m using to retrofit the oem stuff. Just search for “led headlights” and you get a ton of different threads with various other options. Swapping the tails to the stock BLIS led taillights is the oem way, but again, there are tons of aftermarket options as well. Morimoto is a popular option, for example.

Ill stop there as there is a wealth of information spread around quite a few threads. Many of those threads have before and after pics as well as some idea of what it takes to do, both work and cash.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum!
