Default Ignition coil problem

Hello everyone, first time on here and need some advice or ideas on how to fix ignition coil bolt ports that are no longer there. I bought a 2005 F-150 4x4 about a month ago and did oil ,filter change. Then I checked the sparkplugs ( cleaned didn't replace) whoever took ignition coils off previously apparently cracked and/broke some of the bolt ports (4 to be exact) cause when I took ignition coils off two of them had 2in. Self tapping screws with I think lock tight on them and when I go to put them back on couldn't get them to tighten up that's when I saw the broken ports . Truck ran perfect before now with the ignition coils not bolted down apparently they're moving and causing misfiring and I've tried hose clamps, zipties JB weld and can't get it fixed. Not sure what bolt ports are on but buying 2 new heads is not an option .

Welcome to the forum. IIRC from when I did the spark plugs on my 05 F150 5.4 3V the coils screw on to the valve cover, so you would need to replace the valve covers not the heads. You can either buy new aftermarket ones or get used from a wrecking yard.

I just assumed they mounted on the heads if it's valve covers that's within my budget. My next question is it's been misfiring for about a week and I only took 3 of them out and cleaned them but sparkplugs were black very black would the misfiring cause anything to quit working like ignition coils or something else I don't know how to check for bad coils appreciate any help

coils are normally not your problem. I would start with 8 fresh motorcraft plugs and a new set of boots and springs. what motor are you working on and what are the misfire codes ?

I bought the truck in Missouri and drove it here no problems or issues at all it all started when I checked plugs the bolt port turned out to be broken on 3 or 4 of them and they locktited theem in and now can't bolt them down that's when the misfiring started happening so I'm buying valve covers tomorrow morning that have all the ports and I'm 90 percent sure that'll fix him

Plugs shouldn't be black as coal as You cleaned them recently!! You have something wrong turning the plugs black IMO!!
