Howdy, I'm "Nick",
Nick the new guy. Really the name is Shane. I just purchased a 08 F-150 XLT, 4X4, Crewcab w/ the 5.4L. I've been waiting 10 years for my truck, but I had other priorities. Number one being a new Harley. I bought my Harley when I returned from Iraq and 7 months later I have my truck. I'm not new to Fords, but I am F-150's. Over the years I owned a 89 Mustang LX and I gave up driving my 98 Explorer for my truck. I'd much rather be riding my motorcycle vice being locked up in cage, but hey driving my truck is a good time.
As you probably gathered I am in the military and been a member of one of America's finest gun clubs for the past 11 years...the Marine Corps. I'm a married man and have 3 munchies. In my spare time, if I'm not hanging out the with family or on the scoot, I like to snowboard, lift weights, run (mainly because it's required for work and I suck at it). I like to fish and hunt, but it's been years since I've been. Being that I'm back in the deep south for a while I'm hoping to pick it up again. If it goes fast I dig it.
Currently I haven't done anything with my truck. I talked to Banks Engineering yesterday and have some plans in the works. First things first will be opening up the engine and letting it breath a little bit. My intent is to put on their Power Pack system, next will be a small suspension lift, somewhere in the neighborhood of 8" with 37's. Sometime down the road I'll probably throw a supercharger on there for
and giggles. I definitely need to upgrage the audio in my truck. The supercharger will be the last thing I do if I do it.
What am I here for? To learn, to immerse myself in the truck scene and see what's new, what's going. I feel forums, magazines and books are the best sources for learning about what you drive, common problems with them and how to fix them. I have to say I'm a forum junkie, I'm a member on several weightlifting forums (only one I really call home), I'm still a member on a few different Mustang/Ford forums, I mod for American Iron magazine (the only motorcycle forum I participate on), but am a member on a few others to see what kind of problems, etc people are having that I may not come across on AIM.
I think that's probably good enough for an intro if I missed anything and there is something you want to know just ask. I look forward to getting to some of you and learning from all of you!
