Default Hi from VA

Well, I lurked for years, but finally joined the forum recently when I traded my red '04 supercab FX4 F150 for a black 2016 F150 XLT FX4 supercab. Both are a big jump from driving my dad's '67 F150. I've driven a few other Fords, including a '89 SHO and a couple of Mustang GT's but this new '16 F150 is pretty cool! It's a nice cross between a commuter vehicle, weekend project carrier, and tow truck to head to the Shenandoah mountains and points west with dirt bikes. I'm in northern VA.

I'll try pics later, but I've had the truck for two weeks and I've already done some of the typical beginner mods. The Hellwig rear swaybar is on, and a phenomenal improvement! Fox 2.0 rear shocks are here for install this coming weekend. I've installed an Undercover Flex tonneau cover, bed mat and tailgate extender. And I swapped the headlights and badging to the more subdued special edition versions. I like the red/black side emblems on the black truck with the FX4 rear decal. I'm waiting on my Paramount pseudo-Raptor grill to arrive, and I'll re-cut the letters to say Ford. I'm still deciding on wheel/tire and lift mods but have black Gorilla lug nuts to get rid of a little more of that pesky silver stuff.

Plus, Bobby at Banner sent me the Vehicle Security System module and a Kicker subwoofer. Those are my install project tonight. Bobby was great to work with, and Banner shipped the parts express. Good guys.

I haven't started playing with Forscan yet, but the software is loaded on my phone and computer, and my MX interface should arrive tomorrow so I can start getting more familiar with setup options.

Can't think of much more. This forum has been a great source of F150 info over the years, and I've been reading the heck out of the new truck area recently to help make my '16 more of my own!

Cheers,

Nice!
Agreed on the drivability. I got the 3.5L ecoboost, it is so much peppier that the 5.4 L V8 that was in my '06 Lariat. And I haven't even tried the sport mode yet!

Thanks guys!

I'll spend this weekend tweaking and driving the truck then try to get it clean enough, to take a picture. It's just another black '16, but it's mine and I'm liking it!

I'm enjoying the heck out of this truck. Thanks for the welcomes.

I'm doing the typical mods. Stripped the silver badging and put on blacked out ovals, and black/red F150 emblems. Black chrome lugnuts. Fox 2.0 in the rear and Fox 2.0 coilovers up front. Husky rear wheel liners. F150led lighting in the engine bay. Ford security module with LED. Kicker subwoofer. Console lockbox. Black trim Ford headlights. PIAA driving lights in the lower front grill. Rigid backup lights with a Starkey harness. Starkey Raptor grill lights up front. Ford bed mat, tailgate protector, and bed extender. Undercover Flex tonneau cover. Shorty antenna. More to follow, but this was good for the first month.

Did you get these installed on your own? wondering if I can pull it off or best to take it to a pro...

I do all of my own work. I don't think the job is tough - if one is used to turning a wrench. There are a few good videos online that show the install.

But, if you don't have alignment tools, you'll probably want to take it to a shop anyways to have it checked.
