Hello from VA
I am new to this Forum, but experienced to Forums in general. I find more useful information on them then just about any ware else. I got involved as I was hoping to get a bit smaller truck and graft in a 4bt engine into it. I have owned and worked on most all truck types, and many cars as well. I liked the f-150 1997 look and found a good deal on one with a “bad motor”. Then I come to find out the 4.2 may not be so bad off. I am hoping I can find some answers on here as to what my mechanical problem may be. It starts (rough), runs and moves quite well. However oil pressure is low at idle, and check engine light is on. I need to get codes tested, and see what else is going on.
Anyway fun little truck (my daily driver has been F-350 crew w/7.3 diesel) I look forward to learning with this f-150.
Any help/guidance on the engine would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! Ur F350 sounds bad ***! I don't know about the 4.2, I have a 5.4 3v. I'm just wondering if it could b a failing oil pump, sludge, faulty oil gage, oil leak, blown gasket, possible tune up, r the rpms normal @ idle? I'm not a mechanic but though I would at least throw something ur way? Good luck man!
