Cool Greetings

Been lurking for a few months now, mostly to get great information from the forum - and there's a lot of that, that's for sure! I used the information to help inform my purchase of a 2013 FX4 Screw, 5.0, Ruby Red, with 3.73 gears, moonroof, nav, tailgate step, and 20" wheels.

It is being built on Monday, and the dealer says it'll arrive on Friday (I'm in Des Moines, just up the road from the Kansas City plant). The dealer threw in a Line-X and wheel-well liners.

My name is my take on an idealistic future in which we get off this rock and populate the heavens. "Terraform" means to make earth-like, so in this sense I mean that we make places in outer space livable for humans, and I think we need to do that or else we all perish at some point. I could go on, but I don't expect nor do I suspect that most people want to read a rant on such things.

Anyway, for a living I'm a recovered biologist who went back to school to be an engineer, and yes, I am a rocket scientist - at least in the sense of designing things for spacecraft. I designed some of the displays and controls for the now-defunct Orion space capsule, and even got a couple of patents out of it. But I stay busy now working on similar things for aircraft.

Prior to my F-150 - which I'm probably TOO excited about - just ask my wife - I drove a BMW. We have another BMW Z3 that is our "fun" car as well as a Hona Pilot. Prior to that I've owned a Mercedes, a Dodge Dakota (never should have gotten rid of that one), and a first-generation Subaru Outback. My first car was a BMW 325e purchased in 1985 that I drove in high school. So I love cars. But I love trucks, too. I really enjoyed the Dakota, which had the 4.7L and I did lots of mods to it and it looked really great! That vehicle started my love of trucks, and now having just moved to some acreage in the country accessed by a gravel road, I knew I could get away with (read: wifey would let me) getting a truck. Just so happens she stopped by the dealer one day - unbeknownst to me - and was amazed at the back seat room of the Screw, which supported our decision so we can use the F-150 for family trips with my little boy and two dogs. So it's all good.

Looking forward to continuing on this forum, reading about new things, others' ideas, and generally being a part of the family. Thanks for reading!
