About to make major mods...suggestions?
Just purchased 2013 XLT Off Road package and want to create my dream truck. Having the dealer install 6" lift, 35˝ Duratracs on 20˝ Fuel wheels. Also installing fender flares. Any suggestions/pointers/etc. on this process/plan would be greatly appreciated. I will be on dirt roads every weekend, sometimes pretty muddy. Mostly street and highway driving.

That's going to be one heck of a sweet ride.

Thanks to both. I had a Bummer H3 prior to this. The level and 35's created major probs...2 transfer cases and a trans blown, not to mention shot bushings. I hope it was just a poor vehicle, and not typical for quality trucks like Ford.

Welcome. I have a 2012 XLT with the Off Road package. Loving it so far. What color is yours? Post some pics for us.
I hear ya on the transfer cases...I had to replace the transfer case twice on my old Dodge Dakota. That was frustrating since I was beyond diligent with maintenance and never abused it. The thing was just prone to issues.

Nice. The Sterling Grey is sharp. My Dakota was a 2000 and it had about 160k miles on it when I traded it in. No mods, all stock. I was the 2nd owner at about 80k miles and promptly had to replace the transfer case. Then it blew up on me again around 120k miles. I am not sure if I had issues due to bad parts, bad services, or just bad luck...but replacing that twice seemed kind of ridiculous to me. I did really like that truck but it sure had some issues. I love the F150 way more though.

i had a 2002 dakota. 4.7L, crewcab 4x4 with a leer legend. sterling grey sport. i loved that truck. t-case went at 160 000 kms. mainly because i didn't get it serviced. i was also the second owner. had i not gotten into an accident with it, i'd have kept it.
my current truck was brand new when i bought it. 2010 sterling grey 4x4 5.4L 5.5 box. the color is the honorable discharge the dakota got. but i've got the XTR package, which is got chrome. i prefer the fx4, but i wasn't gonna pay the extra for it.
also to honor the dakota, i got another leer canopy. this one is a 100XL, but this time i got a few extra options with it.
in this pic, you'll see the rails that i had installed for $250. mainly for when i decide to throw a rack with a light bar and solar panels.
other options include keyless entry, 12v 3plug hub, removable slider window.
