How to clean a steering wheel?
#12
I once purchased a vehicle with a vinyl steering wheel so filthy it was sticky, and you could see the crud on it. I used a towel soaked with some rubbing alcohol and although some of the color came off, the sticky feel was gone.

Use a concentrated citrus based cleaner like AWSOME that they sell at the General Dollar.
Spray on, let soak, spray again, repeat until appears saturated, then wipe.
I use a citrus based product called Aqua Shine, made in GA, it shines your tires, dilute and use on dash, clear plastics, and cleans upholstery.
Also smells great. I used it on my tan leather steering wheel, which was black at the top and got every bit of the dirt out and looks like original color now.
The military used to use Trichlorelethylene (TCE) to clean their equipment and machinery, all the while contaminating the soil and ground water supply. Then they discovered that citrus was a better cleaner, didn't contaminate, and smelled great all the while.

i use megs apc and agitate with a clean toothbrush first, and then sanitize with my steam machine because im a germaphobe. finish off with a clean microfiber to remove the moisture from the steamer and call it good for another 6 months.
