Default Uploading pictures...problem?

Why when I upload a picture, or try to, it always says "Upload failed?"

What browser are you using? Also, how big is the image that you are trying to upload?

I.E. on Windows 7, it automatically updates.

I have no clue how "big" the picture is or how to shrink the photo.

99.99999999 percent of the time when it says upload failed the pic is too big. use mspaint to resize it, it tells you the max file size it can be when you go to upload it and if you rightclick on the pic and go to properties it will tell you how big it is.

Unless you're talking about your avatar or signature...you're a lot better off using photobucket and just linking to the photos rather than uploading them to the site.

There's a sticky at the top of this thread with instructions if you need them or you can just PM me and I'll help you out.

It will give that error if the pics you are trying to upload directly are too big.

Best way to show pics is to use upload them via Photobucket and copy over to here.

Hope that helps!

Exclamation Uploading pics to site.

Many internet providers provide you with "personal webspace" (also called FTP space). check it out and find if you have a webspace allocation.

As for me, i upload the pics I want to include in a post to my personal space using an FTP uploader (simple in win 7).

then I just tell the site where the pic is...

For example, here is the link to the pic after I uploaded it.

http://webpages.charter.net/greghbna/stuckinsnow.jpg

and here is the pic after I formatted it to show in the post.

I greatly disagree with linking to pics on other hosting sites cause they always get deleted, i cant tell you how many hundreds of threads Ive seen that have done just that and then a few months later guess what, thread still has good info, but no pics cause the hosting site deleted them due to user inactivity which ruins the thread. Its really not that hard to resize them with mspaint and just upload them to here. Heck, its so easy even a caveman could do it! Not to mention that usually they are so large on the other hosted sites the screw up the whole page making you have to scroll sideways to read peoples posts and its fracking annoying as frak!
