What is a good size winch for a lifted f150 extended cab 4x4?

The bigger the better, I think the biggest out there is a 12000 lbs.

Mine has the built in compressor.

Synthetic Winch Rope is way much better. If the cable were to breaks and you close to it, it can kill you; not so with synthetic rope.

Minimum of 8500 lbs.
As a general rule a winch should be 1.5 of the weight of the vehicle being recovered. If your truck, and everything onboard, weighs 5000lbs, you should have a 7500lbs winch, if your truck weighs 6000lbs, you should have a 9000lbs winch.

Great info, thanks!!! I want to eventually put one on mine but I am not going anywhere near your height so putting out in front wouldn't look anywhere near as good as your setup. I want to be able to get myself out from the snow up here, just in case...

Once the $$ is there I think I want to get the warn hidden setup but I didn't know what to do about restringing it with the rope. Thanks for the links...
