I wonder if maybe there is confusion between strobe lights mounted in the headlights/tailights and wig-wag headlights. They are 2 very different beasts.
The wig-wag uses existing headlight wiring to flash the lights at a particular pattern. No possibility of melting anything with this option to my knowledge. You do however have to make sure you get the right kit for the truck. I believe positive switched for our model and year.
The alternative is a strobe system. This uses an external strobe bulb mounted inside the headlight or tailight. The bulbs require their own wiring to a power supply. These do generate PLENTY of heat, and can melt the lenses if used over a long period.
The third option is somewhat the same as option 2, expect the bulbs are a high powered LED. Again, no heat involved in this option.
You can check youtube for all these samples.
yeah like praire was saying...three different options here bud...but if it is indeed the wigwags then the hardest part is finding your high beam switch wire. Well actually its not hard at all as i think there are only three wires leading from the headlamps themselves...cant remember. But which ever way you decide to go let me know and ill help ya out if you got any questions. Before going career, I used to be a volunteer FF and had a crap load of lights...and ive wired several different setups on dif cars....so i know a lil bit bout this subject. And it seems so does Prairie, so yeah just hit us up bro!
