when i got my truck, i had them on it, they were chrome but they were rusted because my uncle lived in the mountains where they salted the roads in the winter. i took them off and i liked how it made my truck look lifted but after about 2 months, i wanted them back because they made it so much easier to get in and out. plus (i know from experience when wheeing my dads bronco), they do protect from rocks and branches. i decided to paint them black but the chrome underneath still chips off. i dont really care though because eventually they will serve their purpose and will get scratched. one day i want to get the hoop step made by CARR

Going tomorrow to price some. I need them because the wife is 5ft tall and she needs them to get in the truck. Not to mention I caught the heel of my cowboy boot the other night getting out on the door sill and just about went out face first.

I'm glad that I put mine back on b/c I slid down a hill into a pretty nice sized boulder that would've probably pinched the door, haha. I will most likely keep nerf bars on my truck till the day I die.

Nerf bars were originally made to keep other people from opening their car doors and dinging your truck, but they make great steps too.

The first time I heard of, or had seen nerf bars was with the off-road buggy racing. The nerf bars were meant to keep the buggies apart so they didn't get caught on each others wheels. They were like bumpers for the sides of the vehicles. They were adapted for commercial users, like us, and the rest is history.

I don’t have them yet, but I am getting them because once I lift my truck, it is going to be even harder to get in it.

Got a pair of Westin chrome nerf bars soon after I bought my truck new. Love em'... they look good, and help with cab access too.
