Default Why did ford drop the 5.4

We have a 2006 fx4 5.4 and a 2010 lariat 4x4 5.4. IMO the 5.4 is one of the best motors that they came out with. They can tow just about anything the gas mileage is alright and they sound amassing. I haven't Seen and 5.4 horror story like the Eco boost motors and the 5.0. So what's the reason why they dropped it?

Mileage and emission requirements. It's also the main reason Ford came out with the Ecoboost.

To help people appreciate what they had. Most cant appreciate what they have until it is gone. So now we all realize how much we love are 5.4L

Because the 5.4L is slow, inefficient & outdated. Also, there's been loads of trucks with cam phaser, ticking & spark plug issues. Good low end torque, but the fact that the basic 3.7L v6 makes almost as much horsepower as the 09+ 5.4 should make it blatantly obvious.

The new 2011+ engines are much better on power and fuel mileage. Ive had three f150's over the years with the 5.4 and two with the ecoboost. My only ecoboost complaint is they should have brought it out sooner.

Because the new V8 (the 5.0) is more powerful and has better fuel economy. And as already stated, they have a superior engine lineup now
