What does CAC update look like?
i recently bought my 2011 F150 Screw and i live in wisconsin where its been anywhere between 10 to -21 degrees out the last 2 months. everyone says this surging issue happens in humid weather but i dont want to wait till summer to see if i need the update. does anyone have pictures or know what to look for to physically SEE if the Charge air cooler update (shrouds/ect) has been done?
Thanks!
Thanks!
sixty, welcome to the forum. I won't try to explain the CAC to you as I have a 5.0L. I suggest you do a search in the "2009 - Present F-150" section, and you find more threads than you can read. Just put "CAC" in there.
I will say that if it is going to happen it will show up in a more humid climate. Also more so after you have been cruising for a long period, and then go to wide open throttle to pass or merge. Hopefully yours doesn't ever have a problem.

Fairly certain the differences are internal in the form of blocked cooling, so there is no external difference.
There will however be a different part #, that you will have to search for. Should be just a prefix or a suffix that denotes whether its the new or old style.
You could also have a dealer run the VIN, they should have the service records for it.

i just dropped it off at the dealer today. told them to check to see if the CAC update has ever been done. hopfully they can run the VIN or someone there will know what the new part number is to verify.
Thanks.
Thanks.
There is also an updated CAC, the entire unit. The blocked areas are internal, not the shield fix you speak of. Again, to know this you would need the part # and the ability to check it against a new version.
