I use this system because it is small and light, and it can get fabulous results. I am getting lazy in my later years and pretty much look for scenes with attractive light and compositional interest, and let the camera do its thing (kind of point and shoot), watching only the aperture to control depth of field. Later on, using a big monitor, I do some Adobe Lightroom5 editing on the ones I like.

Here's a sample of what these camera/lenses can do... (remember these photos are quality reduced for this forum... let me know via PM if you would like to view the original). Looks good! I've been thinking about going Micro Four Thirds myself for the reasons you mention. Carrying large and heavy pro gear can be a real pain in the ***. While I enjoy my 500/4 and 200/2 it gets old carrying them around. I've got to the point of carrying what I need for the job at hand and it still gets tiresome. But for casual and general purpose photography I think the 4/3 might be a winner for me. Thanks for posting.

You cannot beat the large format sensors in full frame photography for absolute capture but these smaller ones are getting better all the time, and have come a long way in five or so years. A couple more technical hurdles and you won't be able to tell the difference. Meanwhile some of the glass being produced is excellent, Panasonic's 25/1.4 or Oly's 17/1.8 for example. These are not expensive, but given the format, can be considered investments as the lenses will long outlive the need to upgrade into better cams with better sensors as they develop.

I had recently looked at Nikon's latest full frame efforts, $3K for a camera and huge prices on huge lenses. Great if you are getting paid to take photos and have a porter. For those prices you can have a full package of M43 gear, a couple of cams with wireless flashes and many lenses, more than you will ever need.

Check out the new fast pro zooms also by Oly and Panasonic, the 12-35 and the 35-100 for example, all at a constant f2.8.

The image attached was shot with a Panasonic G5 using an older sensor (from the GH2) and their cheapest kit zoom, the 14-42. You can have both now for $350. You simply cannot beat that for affordability, quality, and portability.

The mirror less cameras out now are really tempting but I've yet to see one that is anywhere near as fast as my DSLR as far as autofocus speed, they are quick but my 60D is lightning fast.

You must be shooting a lot of moving objects to need lightning fast.

Yep, which is why a mirrorless would not be a choice for me right now. I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter that I take alot of pictures of, she NEVER sits still!

Put my Solo performance Dual Catbacks on this past weekend!

Took some pics later on in waning light and rain...
