Yes, you're right, I did get overzealous and that is not fair to the honest dealers out there.

I got a reply from Ford.
It's very unfortunate that your experience was less than satisfactory. I can imagine how frustrating that must have been for you. Because each dealership is independently owned and operated, pricing, service, and policies may differ per location. I'm going to forward your feedback to the management team of the dealership for review. I'm going to also document your comments regarding your service. I recommend your contact the manager of the dealership for further information on this matter.
I wonder if the dealer will respond to Ford's feedback. No reply to my post on their Facebook wall either.

I finally got a response from the Sales Manager.
Our records show that you did purchase the truck for $30K out the door in the system and we sincerely apologize if everything was not clear or there were any discrepancies when you came in to purchase. The sales representative you dealt with is no longer employed here for me to interview about your complaint.
How convenient that they wait months after I was promised an answer to my questions. With the salesperson who tried to gouge me for an extra $500 no longer working there, they have a petty excuse to decline my request for an answer.

Default I can relate

I am new to the forum, But I can relate. First off I live in SC, and looked around many dealerships for the truck I wanted. This Dealership was Precision Ford in Lillington, NC. They had trucks posted on auto trader with all the discounts and rebates, (15k off MSRP). Well I was not born last night and understand that was probably just a way to get you in there. I called them and she told me yes I could get that truck for that price, only removing the $500 discount for military. So I took off work, drove 2 hours just to be told none of that was true. Truck was 48K MSRP and they would only come off like 4K. Nearly 10K difference than advertised online. Since I drove so far I guess I would give them the chance. I drove a different truck bc I liked the color better. Well We negotiated for 2 hours and they were about $50 bucks off from my desired payment. I told them what I would do and nothing more and I left. They called me before I got 5 miles down the road. Said they could knock it down to about $35 dollar difference a month. I told them no but thanks. Next day their sales girl texted wanted to know what It would take to buy the truck. I told her again, She spoke with her GM and she said they would honor that and to come get the truck. So I took off work again drove up there only to be told again it was not true. It got to the point that their Asst Manager went into the the GMs office and cussed him out for screwing around with me and almost got in a fist fight. Very Unprofessional. So after that no one would go in his office and I was just sitting there. So I got up and marched in his office with no one else and told him we needed to talk. After talking and telling him they were not running a good operation He negotiated with me to get it within 10 bucks a month on my payment. He was the root problem at this dealership, salesman, finance guy and all other were awesome to work with, the GM was a joke. The ONLY reason I still bought the truck was that it was the exact truck I wanted that I had been looking for for over a month. But worst car buying experience of my life by far. I will never be returning to Precision Ford as long as he is there. (Asst Manager called otw home and apologized for his actions, But he was in my corner so I was okay with him standing up for what was right.)

If you guys haven't seen this, it's pretty interesting... An Edmunds guy went undercover as a Car Salesman... then wrote a big expose article about all the underhandness that happens in a dealership... 5 mins only and worth the listen/watch.

This is the kind of bull****, nutless comment that makes people not want to belong to sites where they come to find help. You get a life.

Let me tell you... I recently got in the market for a new F-150 Lariat supercrew, max tow, max fuel, FX4, 501A. A not insubstantial purchase...

So far I have visited 4 dealerships in the LA area and have dealt with another six via email and phone.

Every single one of them has pulled something shady. Mysterious $5,000 markups, serious lowballing on my potential trade-in, falsifying CarFax reports (claiming my current truck has been in an accident--when it has not and I have another CarFax to prove it). Refusing to negotiate an OTD price when I am sitting there with cash in hand ready to buy. Trying to lure me into the dealership when they do not even have the truck I want. Changing the quoted price $2,000 higher after I show up at the dealership to see the truck. Refusing to provide a VIN via email, OTD pricing in which the math doesn't add up (anywhere from $500 - $2,000 in mysterious markups on top of TT&L). Refusing to talk vehicle price, only payments... even though I am sitting there with cash in hand and NOT financing!

I still haven't bought a truck yet because I have yet to find a dealer that isn't trying to screw me. And I am definitely NOT going to trade in my truck, but am selling privately.

I swear, I never had this kind of scammy, shady, unethical, illegal stuff pulled on me before.

All of you guys talking about great experiences have never been to LA apparently.

work in banking WITH all deals coming from local dealers. man the stuff they say to sell a car is amusing. No one pays rent/mortgage (they all live with parents or the home was given to them). Everyone has un-provable income (my boss likes to approve that one). they all had paid off autos that don't show on the credit report anymore. I've caught many with fake or fraud pay stubs from customers, fake drivers license, fake SS cards, forged signatures on contracts. i caught a forged signature on a contract from one when they had to re-contract for a wrong rate (correct rate was 4% higher so obviously the customer wouldn't be happy). they were dumb enough to forge a signature from an assistant to a local lawyer!! That was a pretty fun ordeal to hear the finance guy at the dealership squeal and be threatened with a lawsuit. we cut plenty of dealers off but those finance and sales guys always move from dealer to dealer.

many local ones will not post the sales price of their used cars. once you tell them you have cash or clear trade, that car you were looking at just went up in price. On our side, we always get the story of "we're buried in the trade", i like to tell them that's not the credit union's fault and i give them an approval with certain restrictions. Another dealer will give you no where near what you owe on your trade. I always got deals from them with about $4-5k negative equity on cars and $8-10k negative equity on trucks. When i questioned them, they always came back with "give me your best call back on the deal". I took about 5 deals from them to my boss and they said just give them back low-ball offers.

those lifted trucks with tuscany packages or whatever, always overpriced by $12-$15k. Down here there's plenty of oil field guys that have huge down payments and always want the big trucks. once it's sold new, there's no good value in it. NADA doesn't see the "packages" on those trucks and would be about $15-20k upside down if you wanted to trade in a few years down the road. base value of the truck about $35k, plus the package on the invoice would be roughly $9-11k, price of the truck, $60-$70k. so dumb.

i see a lot of dealers as shady people. i know there's good ones out there but the ones i've come across, i just can't trust. i've seen and know too much with what goes on behind the lines.
