The early 4.6 was a weak dog, but reliable. Starting in 1993 they made some changes that helped, but it isn't the engine you want if you're going to pull ANYTHING or load it heavy. Depending on the trucks configuration and axle ratio some were rated for around 6000 lbs, but my 98 and 02 struggled in mountains without a trailer.
If somehow the 4.6 2v was coupled to the 10R80 it would be a totally different animal.
Keep in mind that the offset test was a test that 10G F150s weren’t designed to survive at that time.
The regular cabs and SCrews do fine. The SuperCabs with only two doors butting up to each other as support was bound to be an idea of the past as that door design has all but disappeared now.

Daughter bought a used 2008 5.4 three valve, of course the cam phasers failed and timing chains and guides wore out. Got taled into phaser lock out kit with the Livernois tune. for the money a new set of factorfy phasers would have been the same and out lasted the need for her to have the truck.
I had a 2010 4.6. combination of white paint falling off in sheets and rust repair work every year, and 3 exhaust manifolds warping and breaking studs off in the heads and I had enough, traded in to a 2018 3.5 ecoboost, I needed an adventure with all new possibilities of massive failure just around the corner. So far in 3 years the only defect has been the stupid IWE check valve that caused the IWEs to eat the splines off the hubs. A $6 part that if Ford had just notified every owner through the Ford Pass app, would have voided trouble for the owners. The 2v earlier 5.4v8s were supposed to be a solid engine. Still got the rust potential depending on where the truck lived.
