Default Towing

What is the maximum towing capacity of a 2010 f-150 fx4 5.4l V8 with 3:73 gears?

Also has any one put there truck to the max weight? If so how did it pull?

If you're looking at travel trailers that big and you're going to tow with any regularity a 3/4 ton would be a much better option.

First, check in your owner's manual for your max towing weight.

The next question to ask is: "Can vs Should". Can you tow that huge trailer pushing max weight? Probably. Should you? Probably not. How frequently are you looking to tow it? Just a few times a year or frequently? While your half ton truck would handle the weight, a 3/4 or larger would do much better as they have a heavier frame, brakes, suspension, and transmission. I've never liked half tons with 5th wheels. Yes, it can be done. I'd stick with a regular travel trailer and a good weight distribution hitch.

I would be towing this trailer 4 to 5 times a year. And I wouldn't be pulling up any hills it's basically just flat.

This is just my opinion but if you're looking at 5th wheels you really should have a 3/4 ton truck. The new half tons are capable of towing big numbers but in the long run it's got to be a lot harder on the 1/2 ton than the 3/4 ton.

What bed do you have, is it a supercrew. Have you towed that much weight before?
Look for GVWR on Truck thats the number you need.
Look for GVWR on trailer.
Look for Weight of your truck.
Look for weight of the trailer.
Look for weight of things in your truck.. Fuel, Food, People, Gear..
Look for weight of things going in to the trailer Fuel, food, gear..
Add all the weight up, does it exceede either GVWR number...
