you are absolutely correct. Those things are ridiculous but unfortunately they are the topics that get the most heated discussion on these forms. I used to be a craftsman fan, but sears industrial tools division closed, there are no local Sears stores left, and quality has really gone down hill. A lifetime warranty means nothing if the company won't be around to honor the warranty period.I have been replacing all of my tools with Kobalt and gave away my craftsman toolbox to my nephew. I still have a lot of craftsman power tools but when they wear out I am replacing them with Hitachi or Dewalt

I've only recently begun woodworking and have purchased a few Hitachi tools and yard tools. I've been very impressed. I'm usually a dewalt person, but Hitachi is winning me over.
I'm one of those guys that has a tool box for every job, at least that's what my wife tells everone.
In the garage I have a three drawer rolling cabinet for wiring, a larger one for general purpose tools and a smaller one for automotive accessories. I made a small room in the garage for safe keeping from my kids and wife.
In the woodshop a three tier box in its own closet, and two workbench/boxes and last multiple cabinets. ( sorry no pics except the shop itself).
Pic's of the garage.
In the truck I have two small three drawer boxes velcroed down.
Guys, the best thing I ever did was buy a Diamondback Bed Cover, the things turn your whole truck bed into a toolbox once you lock your tailgate. With one of these bed covers you now can put your expensive tools, chainsaw and coolers in the bed of the truck without anyone trying to steal them.
Case in point, my truck was stolen one night and recovered the next day undamaged thankfully. In the back of my truck I had a gas can, Stihl chainsaw and Dremel tool kit. You could tell the thieves tried to get into the back of the truck by the way the locks on the Diamondback cover were turned. They tried to break in but the locks kept them from getting to my stuff that was locked in the back. I have a bed extender and telescoping cargo bar also in my truck I use to keep things from shifting around.
Another nice thing about it is the bed cover is easily removed and I can use the bed to haul large objects if I need to. Check them out below, I've had mine on my truck for 5 years and it's still in great shape!
