are these good brake pads for my 2wd 00' lariat. they are as you can see Hawk performance ceramic pads. there are two other models of this brand, the LTS and HPS pads. if these are not good pads i would like some suggestions on what would be a good set under $80 bucks..........Thanks guys!

i have Hawk HPS on my car....it has Cobra brakes....13inch rotors, full foating twin piston calipers, I dont go for Ceramic pads, but my two ton lead sled stops hard enough to bounce my face off the steering wheel.

The Hawk Performance Ceramic and the Hawk HPS are CAR pads, please don't use them on Trucks and SUVs!

Instead, go for the Hawk LTS pad. Specifically made for trucks and SUVs, low dust, much more stopping power than OEM and it will last longer too.

These are what I suggest. Haven't replaced the stock pads on my '06 yet (which I should due to the dang dust), but these are what I put on my '02 FX4. The Green Stuff stopped better than stock and there was no squeal.

The EBC Greenstuff are formulated for CARS, not your trucks. They are made to stop a 3000 pound vehicle, not a 5000 truck towing 1500 pounds of cargo.

I say this over and over again. Once you try a compound developed for trucks you will never go back to CAR pads.

So do you have some info for review on the compounds used and how exactly they are formulated for cars & not trucks/suvs?

Towed a 4K lb load with the EBC Greenstuff in my '02 F150 FX4 through the Rockies. A lot better braking ability and less brake fade than any other pad I've owned in any of my trucks. They do make 3 versions (2K, 6K &7K series), but can't remember which I had installed. I'll check, as I had EBC actually send me a 2nd pair, which I got for free but never used.

Many others from another site I frequent swear by them and is actually where I heard about them from. So there are plenty of people out there using them in their 1/2 tons and love them.

I'm not disagreeing with you and your knowledge, just need some info that spells out why these pads aren't good vs another brand.

I have installed Hawk performance ceramic pads on my wifes 2000 Lightning and they work get. We've had no noise and the brake dust is very minimal unlike the stock pads that come on these trucks.
