Default Theft light blinking fast. No start. Help

I have a 1999 5.4 2wd F-150. When I turn the key to the start position, the THEFT light on the dash blinks fast. The truck fires, but will not turn over. I will continue to turn the key from off to on until finally the THEFT light stops blinking, and the truck will start with no problem. It sometimes takes up to 20 min. I am guessing this is some sort of anti-theft computer problem.

I took it into Ford today, described the problem, and they had a tech look at it, but he could not get it to fail!! Over 5 hrs. They said in order to figure it out they would need to see it fail. OF COURSE!! I get home and it fails, I go to the store and it fails!!! Please Help! Expensive?

Try your other key. It is the anti-theft.

Check your manual to see how you can program a key using the truck itself.

Good luck.

I thought about that, but I dont have one with me. Has anyone had this problem?? In the manual it says that if this happens that the truck should be taken to a dealer. What is failing?
