Default Tailgate opening unexpectedly

Has anyone else had their tailgate just drop open unexpectedly either while driving or parked? This has been happening to my 2018 F150 at random times. Evidently there was a recall issued last year in Canada, but so far Ford is ignoring their US customers. anyone having this issue should report it to the NHTSA website. Maybe if enough reports are received Ford will fix the problem.

There is a fix for that. I have a U.S. vehicle in the U.S. and received notice.

Basically Ford has extended the warranty period. Take it in and they will replace the wire harness.

This was happening to me on my 2018 F150 Platinum. I discovered one of my tail lights had a crack and water leak, filled up the lens and screwed up the little 'putter in back.
Short was opening the tailgate. Drained water, dried it out, no more problems.

Buddy of mine lost a bunch of ice fishing gear because of this issue.
Is it a recall or not?
