Strut or spring
well they are 4 ways to level the 04-08 trucks
1. spacer that goes on top of the coilover assembly--cheapest option
2. poly spacers that go on top/bottom of the coil spring--cheap--but requires the coilover to be taken apart and put back together
3. shocks--bilsteins are the most popular brand, rancho makes the quicklift, i am sure there are many others--nice option to use if your shocks are tired, kill 2 birds with 1 stone. somewhat pricey, shocks are are 275 or so, plus labor if you don't have a strong spring compressor
4. the most expensive would be replacement coilovers--can fine tune to give you the exact height you want, rebuildable--cost 800-1500 depending on the brand.
i prefer the bilsteins, however, i know alot of guys who lifted there truck when new with a spacer and then after the shocks wore out, swapped in bilsteins and sold the spacer. seems the best option to me, but if your on a budget, the spacer is hard to beat.
and yes, you must align your truck after leveling kit.
