last time I heard that sound, last Friday.....the bearings in my rear end went out and my diff locked up. hope that not the case, but if he comes up with nothing around the wheel bearings/brakes have him pull the diff cover and inspect, probably wouldn't hurt to change diff oil anyway.

Seems like he has his weekend planned out. No way I'd pay 1,300 for something I could easily do myself. Dealership shop rates are outrageous.

I would have done it two weeks ago when I visited if it would've started then. He has neither the tools or time. I told them to get a list of all the dealer was going to replace and to get back to me. I think they can go bear minimum on the parts, purchase themselves and find a private shop to hopefully do it cheaper

Man, that blows for him. Minimim parts using a reputable private shop sounds like A+ advice for him.

I figure I'd fill you guys in: the only shop within 50miles that would Attempt it was the Chrysler dealership. The found the noise and it turned out to be the diff which they replaced with a new one. ALSO, they said the entire front end needed replaced (which it didnt) so after upper/lower ball joints, tie rods, CV's, and $2200 later they had it back from the dealership
